Pretty much retired from DA

Sun Aug 16, 2009, 7:40 AM
Yeah, this message is probably a good 10 months late.

I've more or less retired from DA, I just don't have the time to keep up with all the gallery sites out there and at current Flickr serves my needs a bit better than DA (not to mention I'm paying for it). Should anyone here still be interested in keeping up with my work you can find it on [link] Even 10 months in I'm trying not done uploading all my former photography that is posted here on DA, so some of it may be overlap, but for the most part it's being kept current.

DA has been fun for sure, but I needed a back-up server more than a low-grade gallery space, and Flickr just so happens to serve as both. I'll miss the community of people here on DA, for sure (I have been for a couple months now) but it's simply time to move on!

Loves, all!

~John

Hey, just wanted to say that your photos are great! I happened upon some of the AACC photos, and just had to say that you made that campus beautiful! Its awesome finding local artists/photographers on DA. I'm from the Glen Burnie/ Millersville area so to see some of those common places in your photos is pretty cool. I'll be watching now for more. lol.

Hey there! I'm glad you enjoy my work as much! I've actually been retired from DA here for a while but just recently dropped by to see if anything had changed. These days I've cut myself down to just my Flickr (I don't have the time to keep up with all these gallery sites! :P )

If you're still interested in following the random photographic musings I spit out on occassion you can find my at [link] :3

And should you ever develop an interest in photography, I love to teach the trade. ;)

Yeah, I checked out your "Activity" after the fact that I posted a comment. >.< But, sure, I'll still keep a look out on your Flickr account.

I do do a bit of photography here and there. Took all the classes I could get in High School of it, both digital and dark room stuff. I still randomly will find something to photograph providing that my camera works at the time, but I might just take you up on that offer if I decide to dabble back into photo. AACC has a rather nice dark room.

I would be lost as to anything darkroom related, I was a 'tard and skipped on film completely. Tried it out a little bit last year but it was too much of a rift in my workflow. I've been spoiled in this age of digital, and I'm not printing super huge so it suits me just fine. Definitely a skill, an art, I can respect, though. Developing film is crucial as painting.

But yar, ever wanna learn compositional stuff or just don't want to wander the wasteland as a lone photographer (intimidating as all hell) there're folks around these parts who love to get together and shoot. :)

lol. I've always been partial to darkroom stuff, since that's the first thing we did in my first photo class. Well, pretty much all we did in my first photo class. But I've been waning from it as well, as I no longer have access to a darkroom.

But yeah, maybe I'll look into that. Just started first day of college today, and am thinking about joining the Photography club.
